Carol Anne Hartman Director of Contemporary Worship Music
“The FPC Music Program offers our community the privilege of singing, ringing, and playing beautiful and appropriate music to honor God. We believe that all music is prayer, offered to God from our hearts, on behalf of the hearts of our congregation and the hearts of our world. We work hard to present before God our musical offerings, so that God will be pleased with our humble efforts.”

Want to hear one of our anthems again?
Our recordings are at www.soundcloud.com . Search for “stevenmowery” (former choirmaster — the one with the green safari hat). Most of our anthems and most of our Lessons and Carols are recorded for 2014-2019. Sometimes there will be two (2) recordings — the service recording and the rehearsal recording.

OUR ENSEMBLES
[If the pictures appear upside down, you have two (2) options: (1) turn your IPAD, IPHONE, or ANDROID upside down and look at them; or (2) look at the page on a Windows-based laptop or desktop. We are not sure why this happens, but we can assure you that our choir does NOT sing hanging from the sanctuary ceiling ! ]
The Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir leads our traditonal Sanctuary Worship. We sing musical styles from Bach to Bernstein to Rutter and from Hopson to Hayes to Forrest. We especially focus on young North Carolina composers and students. We are accompanied by organ, harp, piano, horns, percussion, and visiting artists and ensembles. Conducted by Dr. Mowery, we are adults of all ages, college students, and older high school students. We form many friendships among us and are a good entrance point for new members in our congregation. We encourage participation by busy people by providing multiple rehearsal times each week.
The Chancel Choir practices in the sanctuary choir loft each Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:15 PM and each Sunday from 10 until 11 AM.
KAIROS WORSHIP TEAM
The Kairos Worship Team leads our contemporary service in the Fellowship Hall. We sing and we play guitars, bass, drums, percussion, keyboards, and synthesizers to accompany our community singing and our special music presentations. We are adults of all ages and high school students. Because we have busy schedules, we use our talents as much as possible but we understand that some of our commitments are limited. For information, contact Carol Anne Hartman at ca@cahartman.com .
The Kairos Worship Team rehearses at 7:00 on Wednesday evenings in the Fellowship Hall.
THE SANCTUARY HANDBELL CHOIR
The Sanctuary Handbell Choir is for adults and older high school students who enjoy the sounds and fellowship of playing together in an instrumental ensemble. A very basic knowledge of reading music is necessary, but even new players quickly acquire the skills necessary to play the bells. By its very nature, handbell playing requires dedication and time commitment to the program. The group presents music in the 11 AM traditional service on a seasonal basis.
The Sanctuary Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesday from 6:15 until 6:55.

FPC offers significant musical scholarships each year for participation and leadership in our music program. The scholarships are offered to students at Lenoir Rhyne University and Catawba Valley Community College. Students are selected with the recommendation of the college music faculty. They participate each week in our traditional services and serve as section leaders,
soloists, rehearsal accompanists, and occasional conductors of the Chancel Choir. Particular responsibilities are determined in consultation with the student and the college faculty. For applications and additional information, contact Dr. Martha Hill
